Michelle Clay

Hi, I’m Michelle Clay.

I am driven to motivate and empower educators with the tools they need to help students overcome learning barriers in both reading and math. With over 29 years in education, my career spans roles as a K–12 classroom teacher, special educator, instructional coach, and university professor. Currently, I serve as a Regional Literacy Coach for Northwest Georgia RESA.

• M.Ed. in Reading & Math – Walden University

• B.A. in Elementary Education – LaGrange College

• Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist – International Dyslexia Association (IDA)

Higher Education & Leadership

In addition to my work at RESA, I serve as an Adjunct Professor at the University of West Georgia, where I teach online Master’s reading courses for special education teachers.  I also served an Adjunct Professor at Shorter University in the areas of reading math.

Locally and regionally, I lead the Math Endorsement for Floyd County Schools, and served on the Georgia Numeracy Project Taskforce, and have helped develop state-level math intervention programs.

National & Global Literacy Training

As an IMSE District Instructor and Level 5 IMSE OG Master Instructor, I train educators across the country and around the globe in Orton-Gillingham methodology and structured literacy practices.

When I’m not coaching teachers or designing instruction, you can usually find me spending time with my family, hitting local hiking trails, or exploring caves.
