Dr. Katie Bennett serves as a Regional Literacy Coach for Northwest Georgia RESA, bringing more than 15 years of experience in education and a deep commitment to supporting educators and students alike.
Before joining Northwest Georgia RESA in 2025, Katie most recently served as an Associate Professor of Special Education/Teacher Preparation. Her focus was preparing pre-service and in-service teachers in Special Education and Elementary Education with a focus in literacy. Additionally, she oversaw the development/program revisions of a Dyslexia Endorsement, Gifted Endorsement, initial and advanced teacher preparation programs. While in the K-12 setting, Katie served students with high-incidence disabilities across the K-12 spectrum. Katie served the NWGA RESA region as a Let's Read Georgia Literacy Coach during the 2025-26 school year.
Katie earned a PhD in Special Education. She holds endorsements in ESOL, Reading, and Dyslexia. She is passionate about equipping educators to meet the diverse needs of the students in their classrooms, maintaining that strong educators design purposeful instruction for all students.
